Layne Harris (he/him) was born in 1997 in Bloomington, California. Growing up in a few different cities within Southern California, Harris would spend most of his time in the city of Riverside. There he would obtain multiple awards from the Press-Enterprise Art Show for drawing, showcase work in group shows, and graduate from Riverside City College with an Associate's in Fine and Applied Arts in 2019. Harris currently resides in Pasadena, California, where he attended ArtCenter College of Design with a focus in Illustration and Fine Art. He graduated from ArtCenter with his BFA in 2022.
Harris often abstracts the human form through the use of various mediums. He enjoys working intuitively and without a predetermined course as an exercise of exploring and extracting ideas within the subconscious. He approaches each painting as a puzzle that can be solved by keeping an open line of communication between the work and himself. In this reactive relationship, Harris is able to create work that defines itself rather than conform to any one narrative.
